Urban Recycling and Skilling Academy (URSA)
In Kampala alone, 1,500 tons of waste are generated every day of which plastics take a lion’s share. Only 40% of this waste is collected and disposed off properly, the remaining 60% finds its way into the environment leading to a number of problems.
URSA is a Social Enterprise designed to skill youth and young women to find treasure (high-value recycled materials) in urban trash (domestic waste) with an aspiration of skilling and promoting awareness towards climate adaptation. What started as a treasure from trash social action plan is now part of our program that has also been an inspiration globally through the Active Citizens climate action tool kit.
